Doodle... dotted forest

Meeeoooow, Monday!  Fun and leafy doodle... Drew this in Pointillism-style... took a bit more time than my usual doodles!  Did the whole doodle in tiny dots.........  The paper is an A5, yet it still felt like it took a looooong time!  The last time I did Pointillism was in art school, freshman year, back in 19-forgotten.  😺😺😺

This doodle is inspired by the underwater kelp forests.  I remember watching it on one of the nature channels on TV many, many years ago.  I find them so fascinating and mysterious.

Doodle... trail of blue and pink

Meeeoooow, Monday!  A colorful and fun flower doodle for today's Inktober blogpost, using Staedtler Triplus Fineliners.  Bought these recently... a nice and colorful break from my usual black inkpens.  This one is inspired by one of my older doodles from 2016.  It's fun to flip through old sketchbooks!  😺😺😺

Doodle... inktober florals

Meeeoooow, Monday!  Back to inky and flowery doodles for Inktober.  Eventhough the paper size is A5, comparatively small, I still find it intimidating to do a full-page doodle...  😺😺😺

Doodle... short and center

Meeeoooow, Monday!  Fun and quick hairstyle fashion illustration... Long and flowy hairstyles are fun to draw, but short and sleek hairstyles have their own charm too!  😺😺😺

Doodle... flowy, flowery

Meeeoooow, Monday!  Hairstyle and flowers fashion illustration... Colored this one coz I wanted to use my new Winsor and Newton, Cotman watercolors.  They're the student-grade quality but I looooooove how vibrant the colors are!

Portrait... Lee JaeJin of Sechskies #2

Meeeoooow, Monday!  I bought some art supplies during my recent trip to Singapore and wanted to try them out.  Since it's been some time since I last drew a portrait... seems a good way to try out these art supplies.  This is my second portrait of Lee JaeJin of Sechskies, one of my fave kpop groups.  And JaeJin is my fave/bias in the group!   I also love their songs!  He's also one of my fave portrait subjects.  Handsome, beautiful expressive eyes and an adorably kooky/quirky 4D personality! You can find my first portrait of him from a few years ago under Portraits, on the right sidebar.

This is a quick portrait to try out the new art supplies, so it's less detailed than my usual.  Paper is A5 Daler-Rowney Fine Grain - Cartridge, watercolor is Winsor and Newton, Cotman and I also used my old Derwent watercolor pencils and Staedtler mars-lumograph 8B graphite pencil for the details. I loooooove the Cotman watercolors!  Colors are quite vibrant, eventhough they are of student-grade.  I like this new paper too!  Although it says fine grain, it's not quite smooth enough for me since the watercolor pencils and graphite pencil are too grainy and stroke-y on it.  Will need to modify my portrait method a bit the next time I use this paper!

And these are the new art supplies I bought... Not really an art haul!  I bought these at ArtFriend, in Plaza Singapura on Orchard Road.   Huge art store!  Sooooooo many art products, and craft stuff!  There's also another branch at Bras Basah Complex in the Bugis area.  It got rather confusing at the paper section.  Sooooo many paper choices, had a hard time choosing!   Was planning to check out other art stores as well, but I didn't have enough time to go as I only had a few days in Singapore.  Going to an art store is quite a treat as we don't have any art stores here in Cebu City.  Art supplies are sold in a section of bookstores and with very limited choices, so going to an actual art store is like going to a candy store!  Another excuse to return to Singapore!  😺😺😺
