Summery Sketchery - short and leggy

Meow there!  Felt like doing some summery shorts.  This summer heat is really hot this year!   Would be great to have some rain again one of these days... I miss the rain!

Sketch... matchy-matchy.

Yeah... fashion faux-pas perhaps?  Not overly so I hope.  hahaha...  Kinda fun sketch/render to do though. =^.^=

Did my inklines a bit different... broken and a bit sketchy.

I've never worn cropped pants/jeans or pants/jeans in colorful prints... Love the look, but not sure it suits me... =^.^=

YouTube Finds - how to draw fabric folds

Thought I'd share this video series I came across on YouTube today...  very informative.  The artist really knows what he's doing and the video was well thought-through/planned (and not impromptu!!!), so there's not much useless babbling in the video. Sketch... party!

I'm still practising on my sketches.  I've still used the skin-tone watercolor on these two ladies here, then reduced the shading (watercolor pencils).  Also used "matching" color pencils as outlines instead of the ink pen.  I kinda like the way my sketches look.  

It's been a month since I've made my first sketch post... Yay!   Since starting this blog, I've kind of "coerced" myself back into more sketching/drawing.   My drawing/sketching and creative parts have gotten really rusty from desuetude!    I've made myself a goal of drawing/sketching and posting at least twice a week!  I hope I can keep up with this self-imposed challenge.   It's good to be back - doing my art, my sketching and drawing...  =^.^=

Summery Sketchery... random

Still doing summery sketches.  It's quite a hot summer season here!   I used a base of skin tone watercolor, then went over it with watercolor pencils (without the wash) for shading.  Can't see much difference with my previous method!

Inking...

Practising with my ink pen...  I find it easier to ink if it's just pencil sketches.  My hand and my strokes get stiff when I ink colored/rendered sketches.  As usual, I'm still practising on my inking and rendering... not giving much thought on the design of the clothes I sketch.  Just giving the designs minimal thought...

Art Encounters - Thai Sculptures...

Went to a Thai restaurant for dinner tonight...  It is not a big place, rather cozy and it is decorated with some traditional Thai art.  Took a few photos of the art, but only two were decent enough for posting... I'm blaming it on my old cellphone camera!  hehehe...  I love traditional Asian arts... feels like they're from a very distant era in history.  A lot of intricate and elaborate details, painstakingly and exquisitely done... AND you can see the passion of the artist in the art.  As if the artist really imparted a part of himself/herself into the artwork.  A lot of things are now mass-produced, although that's not totally a bad thing. 

I really like this one... has a modern and graphic look.

Added the "vignette" effect to the photos using Picasa.  

By the way, the food was nice and tasted authentic, though a bit salty.  Best part was the Sala fruit shake!  Tasted fun and yummy, like strawberry ice cream with a touch of bubblegum flavor.  Eventhough it was made using syrup concentrate, it was still delish!  =^.^=

Meow there!  Posting a couple of random, practice sketches again, post-Easter week.  Thought I'd try less shading, especially on the skin.  =^.^=

Summery Sketchery... beach getaway!

Meow there!  It's almost Easter Sunday and that definitely means the beach for a lot of people here.   Hence, the beach-themed sketches...  My mind has gone on an imaginary beach getaway. =)

Summery Sketchery... gone shopping!

Meow there!  Still practicing on my sketching, especially on my rendering and inking.  I used watercolor pencils on these two ladies, and gave it a light wash.  Thought I'd use my sketchpad so I can work on my rendering better, as I used regular bondpaper for the sketches on my earlier blog posts here.
