Portrait/Video... Alejandro Fernández #3

Alejandro Fernandez portrait/retrato in graphite and watercolor pencils.

Meow there, Monday!  Finally finished my new portrait of singer Alejandro Fernandez (one of my faves!).  It was his birthday a few days ago!   He has such a handsome face, I don't think I can get bored drawing his portrait again.  This is my 3rd portrait of him!  You can view all my other portraits (here).    =^.^=

I pretty much used the usual materials I've been using on my other portraits: graphite pencil (mainly Staedtler EE) and Derwent watercolor pencils.  Used just a couple of colors (blues and violet) for a subtle touch of color.  I have gotten a bit bored with doing just plain graphite portraits.  It's a lot more fun to do, even if the colors are rather subtle and only a few of them are used!  I made a slideshow video of my WIP photos as well...

Sharing a few more of Alejandro Fernandez' music...

I love his hairstyle here!  Clean-cut but edgy...

This is the song he did as a duet with Christina Aguilera...
but this live version is a solo though...

Portrait/Video... Alejandro Fernández #2

Alejandro Fernández, portrait in graphite and watercolor pencils...

Meow there, Monday!  A dreamy heartthrob for this Valentine's week blogpost... Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández!   My second portrait of him... and might do another one!  He looks much handsomer when he smiles...  He has such a beautiful smile!!!   =^.^=

Small section of the mess...
Messy work area means you're having fun!

I used the same materials I used for my fashion illustrations: watercolor (for the base color), graphite and watercolor pencils.  Pretty much the same method I used for my other color portraits.  Building up layers of graphite (smudged) and watercolor pencils ("washed" over with a wet brush).  I enjoyed doing this portrait...  Color portraits are so much more fun to do than just plain graphite ones.    Since I worked on it intermittently, it wasn't practical to take videos while doing the portrait.  So,  I took WIP photos instead... and made a "video" from those photos!

And now for some lovely songs.  hard to choose which songs of his to include in this blogpost as I don't want it to be a looong post.

This is my song-of-the-moment...
Been playing this song over and over and over and over for a couple of weeks now!

One of my faves...

Portrait... Alejandro Fernández in graphite

Portrait - Alejandro Fernandez, done in graphite and pencil

Meow there, Monday!  Finally "finished" the portrait I was doing but wasn't able to finish in time for last Monday.   Anyway, I recently went back to my old digital music archive and decided to look up them up on YouTube.  Always a wonderful and exciting treat to discover new songs and new artists... I love YouTube!   Been playing and replaying these new (and old faves!) songs on YouTube over and over and over and over... for the past several weeks! Still loving the songs...  Thank goodness for websites that translate song lyrics!  It would have taken me a loooong time using my old Spanish dictionary and notes... Knowing the meaning of the lyrics makes the songs so much more endearing, and I appreciate the songs so much more as well...   Alejandro Fernandez has such a beautiful smile and amazing voice!   =^.^=

I love his smile!!!
Been a while since I last did a portrait...   This is actually my second attempt at this one. The first one turned out awful!  Didn't know what I was doing at all!   Wanted to do color too but ended up turning him into an Oompa-Loompa... LOL...  Still have to do lots of practice to get better at portraits!

I've had this song in my Ipod for years!
Fell in love with this song all over again, especially this live version...  =)

Love, love, love how he looks in this video...
The hairstyle looked great on him!

El es muy, muy caliente!  ;-)

Love it when he hits the high notes at the end of this video...  amazing voice!
